From November 21st to November 23rd, 2024, the 20th China SoG Silicon and PV Power Conference (20th CSPV), hosted by S.C, was grandly held in Longgang District, Shenzhen. The China SoG Silicon and PV Power Conference (CSPV) is jointly organized by the Institute of Solar Energy, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Institute of Solar Energy Systems, Sun Yat-Sen University, the State Key Lab of Silicon Materials, Zhejiang University, and the Shanghai Solar Energy Society. It is one of the most important academic conferences in China’s silicon materials and PV power. During the Conference, more than 1,000 participants, including government leaders, representatives of PV Industry Association, representatives of scientific research and business community and media representatives, attended the 20th CSPV.
Mr. Zuo Guojun, Chairman of S.C, together with Mr. Liu Shunda, President of the China Electric Equipment Management Association, former Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the SASAC, and former Chairman of China Datang Corporation Ltd., and Mr. Zhu Junsheng, Chairman of the 20th CSPV and former Director of the Department of Resource Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization, State Economic and Trade Commission, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the Conference.
Mr. Zuo Guojun, Chairman of S.C, said in his speech:
First, technological iteration has played a crucial role in improving conversion efficiency and reducing the costs of crystalline silicon cells. However, continued efforts are still needed until the ultimate solar cell technical route emerges. Enterprises need to persist in increasing investment in R&D and implementing multiple technical route layouts in order to achieve technological progress.
Second, equipment is the carrier of PV cells production process. China's PV equipment enterprises have made significant contributions to cost reduction and large-scale application in the PV industry, but they is still a need for continuous innovation. At present, a serious homogenization of competition exists in PV cells manufacturing equipment. It is necessary for enterprises to collaborate in innovation and continue to experiment and explore. The establishment of a more orderly and competitive environment for China's PV equipment enterprises is related to the sustainable development of the PV industry and its global leading edge.
Third, it is inevitable for China's PV products and its throughput to go abroad, but it is crucial to protect and respect intellectual property rights and avoid the trap of intellectual property rights. According to market forecasts, the internationalization of products has become an inevitable trend in the development of China’s PV industry, and intellectual property barriers have become a technical threshold that China’s PV enterprises must overcome for their survival and development. The manufacturing cost is no longer the only factor considered in the cost of PV products, and the cost of trade barriers and intellectual property rights will play a crucial role in product competitiveness. Protecting and respecting intellectual property rights matters as much as avoiding the trap of intellectual property rights, which tests the comprehensive strength of enterprises.
Finally, Mr. Zuo Guojun encouraged China's PV companies to “persist in collaborative innovation, moving forward, continue to strive to burnish the beautiful business card of China’s PV industry, jointly create new quality productivity of PV industry, and greet the next spring of the PV industry with enough patience and strong will” during the PV winter.
At the opening ceremony of the Conference, the 20th CSPV's Hosting Award Ceremony was held. Mr. Zhou Weizhong, Assistant to Chairman of S.C and General Manager of the Market Research Center, took the stage on behalf of S.C and to be granted with the 20th CSPV’s Hosting Award.
The CSPV is one of the most important academic conferences in China's silicon materials and PV power. S.C is committed to the high-quality development of the PV power industry and took the initiative to host this Conference. The Conference featured two theme forums and 20 special venues, where hundreds of professional reports were shared and the latest research achievements and development trends in the PV industry, including silicon materials, solar cells, PV auxiliary materials, system applications, testing and certification, and manufacturing equipment, both domestically and internationally, were showcased and exchanged.
During the Conference, Dr. Sheng Jiang, Technical Director of S.C's Perovskite Pilot Line, delivered a speech on the application of manufacturing equipment in perovskite technology at the perovskite cell venue hosted by S.C, titled “Equipment Boosts the Development of Perovskite Solar Cells and Tandem Solar Cells”. His presentation focused on the advantages and important role of S.C's cleaning equipment in the application of perovskite solar cells and tandem solar cells.
Mr. Wang Qiang, Senior Engineer of S.C's Laser Process, delivered a speech on the application of laser equipment in BC solar cells technology at the BC Cell venue, titled “Mass Production Solution of Laser Equipment in BC Solar Cells Production Line”, which received enthusiastic responses from the audience.
Dr. Chen Qilin, Deputy General Manager of S.C's Business Division III, gave a report titled “HJT Equipment and its R&D Progress” at the HJT Cell venue. He discussed the R&D progress of S.C's HJT equipment and also presented the R&D data measured at the client side after S.C's HJT equipment was upgraded.
